2 minors tagged in theft, other street crimes fall in Marikina

Two minors were arrested in Marikina City on Thursday for alleged theft.

Police arrested a certain alias Jacobe, 17, and alias Pogi, 15, for allegedly breaking the windows of a car to steal a high-end cellphone worth P35,000, a cap and a flash drive.

A police report on Friday disclosed that Emil Dapulano, a carwash boy, caught the suspects stealing the items from the car of Bernard Mendoza in Sta. Teresita Village, Barangay Malanday.

The suspects managed to run away when Dapulano shouted at them, authorities said.

Police then conducted a follow-up operation which led to their arrest.

Investigation showed that the minors have also been involved in other cases of hold-up and motorcycle robbery in the area.

One of their previous victims reportedly let the incident pass since they are minors.

Both suspects were taken under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, according to police. /jpv
