Thanks to a police officers’s sharp eyes, a man carrying over P90,000 of crystal meth or “shabu” was arrested in Makati City on Tuesday afternoon.
A report to Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon, city police chief, said that Rembrandt Tanchico was on a motorcycle when he was flagged down at a checkpoint manned by the Makati Special Reaction Unit at the corner of Kalayaan Avenue and N. Garcia Street around 2 p.m.
As PO1 Araman Vincent was checking the motorcycle’s registration papers, the 26-year-old Tanchico “took something out [of] his left front pocket and discreetly threw it [away].”
The policeman, however, saw what happened and recovered the discarded item which turned out to be two packets of shabu weighing 18.122 grams with a street value of P90,610.
