There may be no escaping the long arm of the law this time for the “crazy yellow Kia” driver who left several security personnel injured and thousands of pesos worth of damage to vehicles and property in her wake in 2016.

After dodging reckless driving charges, 29-year-old Jamie Camille Brojan may find it harder to shake off a case for illegal drug possession after authorities allegedly found a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) and drug paraphernalia in her bag on Saturday morning.

In a report submitted to Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon, Makati City police chief, Brojan hailed a taxi driven by Alex Novilla in front of a bar on Makati Avenue at 3:50 a.m.

Drunk, unconscious

Novilla said Brojan, who seemed drunk, asked to be dropped off at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. However, along the way, she “vomited in his taxi and passed out.”

According to Novilla, he asked for help from watchmen at Barangay Poblacion who accompanied them to the bar so that they could retrieve Brojan’s bag and contact her family.

As the barangay watchmen—with bar security guards and Novilla looking on as witnesses—were looking for identification cards in Brojan’s bag, they reportedly found a sachet of shabu, two glass tube pipes and an aluminum foil strip with white powder residue.

So instead of being brought home, a half-sober Brojan was taken to Ospital ng Makati to undergo medical inquest. She was later turned over to the Makati police on drug possession charges.

On Nov. 11, 2016, Brojan injured four security personnel and damaged several vehicles and property while driving her yellow Kia Picanto.

At that time, she was trying to flee from motorcycle-riding guards of Rockwell Center who had cited her for illegal parking.

Just like a video game

A video uploaded by several online users showed Brojan shouting at the guards and even driving in reverse, almost hitting some pedestrians in the process. Some netizens commented that the scene was like something out of the popular video game, “Grand Theft Auto,” with some calling her the “crazy yellow Kia” driver.

Brojan managed to evade being charged with reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury and damage to property after she shouldered the medical bills of the injured guards and the damage to other people’s vehicles and property.

There were initial reports she was high on drugs during the hour-long chase after authorities found suspected drug paraphernalia in her possession. However, these turned out to be “foil from candy wrappers, cigarette packs and medication” for her bipolar disorder.

Brojan, however, may not end up totally in the clear in connection with the 2016 incident as the Land Transportation Office is still deliberating on whether or not it should revoke her driver’s license.
