Pacquiao wants Sara Duterte to run for senator in 2019

Senator Manny Pacquiao on Saturday said he wants presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for a Senate seat in the 2019 elections.

“Para sa akin, gusto ko ‘yan. Gusto kong tumakbo siya dyan as senador [For me, I want that. I want her to run as senator],” he said during an interview with DWIZ.

Pacquiao praised Sara Duterte for her political will, which he said was shown in her stint as mayor for Davao City.

“Especially meron siyang political will. Na-manage nga niya nang husto yung Davao City (Especially that she has political will. She even managed to organize Davao City well),” he said.

He also said she can “help a lot” in the Senate.

Aside from Pacquiao, Senator Panfilo Lacson also said the presidential daughter is his “top choice” should a next leader for the country come from the younger breed. /jpv
