Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) Founder Jose Maria (Joma) Sison lamented on Tuesday President Rodrigo Duterte’s non-mention of peace talks during his State of the Nation Address (Sona).

In a statement on Tuesday, Sison slammed Duterte for not discussing the Proclamation No. 360, which terminated the peace talks with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) in November last year.

“He does not want to address the roots of the armed conflict through comprehensive agreements on social, economic and political reforms in order to lay the basis for a just and lasting peace,” said Sison, also the Chief Political Consultant of the NDFP.

“It is deliberately escalating the armed conflict in order to scapegoat the revolutionaries for his vile scheme of establishing a fascist dictatorship,” Sison added.

He also slammed other points during Duterte’s Sona and claimed that the true state of the nation include inflation, mass killings, unemployment, rampant criminality, the prevalence of illegal drugs, and his “fascist” dictatorship.   /vvp
