Parts of Luzon and Visayas will continue to experience severe weather even after Tropical Depression “Josie” has left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

Scattered to widespread monsoon rains could be expected over Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Occasional rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas will also continue, it added.

The new low pressure area (LPA) outside PAR was last spotted 1,495 kilometers east of Central Luzon and is expected to get inside PAR later Monday.

Pagasa said should the new LPA develop into a storm, it would likely be named “Karding.”   /kga
