“Another deplorable act,” Senator Grace Poe said Friday following the latest killing of a broadcaster in Albay.
Still unidentified suspects shot and killed DWZR anchor Joey Llana around 5 a.m. Friday in Barangay Peñafrancia, Daraga town. Llana was about to leave home for a morning program at the radio station.

As chair of the Senate committee on public information and mass media, Poe sought for swift action and immediate arrest of Llana’s killers.
“The killing of radio anchor Joey Llana in Daraga town, Albay is another deplorable act, which has no place in a democratic society,” she said in a statement.
“We urge the authorities to swiftly act on this and bring the perpetrators to justice,” she added.
Poe lamented the increasing number of killings of journalists and asserted that the slow resolution of cases have emboldened those who carry out the attacks against the members of the media.
“Let us not allow the culture of impunity to claim more lives,” Poe stressed. /kga
