High value target in drug watch list arrested in Caloocan

A joint operation by authorities from the Caloocan City Police Station, Police Regional Office 1, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Ilocos Sur and the Santiago Police Station apprehended a Level 2 High Value Target (HVT) in the President’s drug watch list.

Renato “Atong” Tengsico, 72 years old, a resident and a former barangay chairman of Poblacion Norte, Santiago, Ilocos Sur was arrested on Tuesday night through a warrant issued by the Ilocos Sur Regional Trial Court Branch 72 for Criminal Case No. 3651-N, the report from the Northern Police District (NPD) said.

Tengsico, who was arrested at Caldino Apartments in Shelterville, Barangay 170, Bagumbong, North Caloocan, is also Ilocos Sur’s most wanted person.

According to NPD, he is the leader of the Tengsico-Cabreros Drug Group which operated in the second district of Ilocos Sur.  After posting bail for his provisional liberty in 2014, the accused evaded authorities until his arrest.

Policemen recovered four sachets of shabu weighing about five grams with an estimated street value of P20,000 from the accused, who is currently under the custody of Caloocan City Police.

Tengsico will face charges for violation of Section 11, Article II of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.  Cases filed by the Regional Trial Court Branch 72 against him contain a penalty of life imprisonment. /je
