Landslide, floods hit Southern Tagalog as ‘Henry’ dumps heavy rain

TAGAYTAY CITY – Flood and landslides hit Southern Tagalog amid inclement weather due to Tropical Storm “Henry.”

A report from the Calabarzon Office of the Civil Defense said a landslide occurred early morning Tuesday along the Ternate-Nasugbu road near the Kaybiang tunnel in Cavite, rendering the route unpassable.

As of 1 p.m., clearing operations continued and motorists headed to Batangas province were advised to avoid the area.

A landslide was also reported in Barangay Lulungisan, Indang town.

Cavite disaster response chief Trixia Flores said gutter-deep water flooded the villages of Labac, Mabulo, and Bancaan in Naic.

Floods

Meanwhile, regional police monitoring said floods hit Barangay Balanga in Ibaan, Batangas.

Four subdivisions along Felix Manalo Avenue in Barangay San Isidro in Cainta, Rizal province were also affected by flooding.

In Sablayan town in Occidental Mindoro province, the local government unit had declared a suspension of classes in private and public schools in all levels due to heavy rains.
