PNP activates disaster units in areas hit by ‘Henry’

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has activated its disaster response units to help the local police in its disaster management following flash floods from the southwest monsoon and tropical storm ‘Henry.’

Disaster response troops, equipment, and supplies have been prepared for affected areas in the country due to heavy rainfall, the PNP said in a statement Tuesday.

“This is one of those seasonal situations when the PNP is called upon to perform public safety operations to save lives,” police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said.

The PNP has also started operating its National Headquarters Disaster Incident Management Task Group or its plan of action on disaster preparedness and response management.

Other police units, including the Special Action Force, the Maritime Group, and the Highway Patrol Group, have likewise been ordered to coordinate with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and other local government units. /ee
