Sereno draws SC censure for attacks on former colleagues
The Supreme Court (SC) has reprimanded former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno for discussing the merits of the quo warranto case in public while it was still pending in the tribunal.
It also admonished Sereno for her attacks against some of her former colleagues at the high court.
During Tuesday’s en banc, the SC warned Sereno against repeating those acts or the court would deal with her more severely.
Part of the May 11 ruling that granted the quo warranto petition and ousted Sereno from office was the SC’s issuance of a show cause order against her for discussing the case in public.
The high court noted that the former top magistrate violated the subjudice rule and “cast aspersions and ill motives” on some members of the high court. /kga
