15 nabbed for taking part in illegal lottery in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – Fifteen suspects were arrested in anti-illegal gambling operation in Atimonan town in Quezon province on Saturday, according to Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, chief of the Quezon Police Provincial Office.

De Guzman identified the suspects as Joselito Aguilar, Jose Deseo, Divina Contreras, Romeo Jamuyot, Christian Curioso, Julieta Sugnan, Arnulfo Angara, Pablito Santander, Arlene Tan, Jonathan Alva, Delferto Moreno, Tuco Tamarez, Crisanto Saniel, Eduaro Enriquez and Flordeliza Montayre.

They were caught in the act of engaging in an illegal lottery under “Project Bago.”

The drawing of lottery balls with corresponding numbers was being held inside a rented space of a house reportedly owned by a local lawyer in Barangay Caridad Ibaba around 12:45 p.m.

Authorities said the lottery had no authorization from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Police seized a lottery drum (tambyolo), bet collection forms (lastillas) and bet money amounting to P6,421 in different denominations. /atm
