PNP: Security all set for Sona 2025

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) said its security preparations for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona) was all set.
In an interview on dzBB on Saturday, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said 12,000 police officers will be deployed for the president’s annual speech to Congress with 8,000 more from the agency’s support units and other agencies.
“We are ready,” Fajardo stressed.
When asked about possible threats to the Sona, she answered, “We’re not receiving any serious threats whatsoever, but we won’t be complacent.”
Fajardo also said the police were coordinating with three groups for permits to hold rallies: the militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan at the St. Peter’s Parish area along Commonwealth Avenue; civil society coalition Tindig Pilipinas along White Plains Avenue; and a pro-administration group near the Sandiganbayan.

Marcos will be delivering his fourth annual address to a joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City on Monday, opening the 20th Congress. /das
