LTFRB defends P10-M fine imposed on Grab

/ 05:53 AM July 14, 2018

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) maintained that their decision to fine ride-hailing giant Grab P10 million for allegedly overcharging its passengers was based on merit and did not stem from political pressure.

LTFRB chair Martin Delgra said the transport network company (TNC) committed a violation by unilaterally imposing a P2/minute travel charge without the board’s approval.

For this, the LTFRB on Tuesday ordered Grab to pay P10 million and to reimburse passengers affected by the additional charge through future rebates.

Delgra added the TNC may still file for reconsideration within 15 days.—Krixia Subingsubing
