3 car theft suspects killed in shootout with QC police

Three car theft suspects were shot dead by Quezon City policemen in Barangay Payatas after they were flagged down in a checkpoint operation early Friday morning.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel said one  suspect had a tattoo that  read “Philip Carpio, Cordova Katipunero.”

Based on the QCPD report, the suspects were on two motorcycles around 12:30 a.m. on Friday when they were flagged down by anticar theft policemen who were conducting Oplan Sita at Group 5 corner Payatas Road, Barangay Payatas.

Police said the suspects sped off instead of stopping, prompting the operatives to give chase and eventually corner the suspects.

The armed suspects then fired at the pursuing operatives hitting the police mobile.
