Malacañang dismissed on Friday the accusations of exiled communist leader Jose Ma. Sison, who claimed that the localized peace talks are just a “waste of public money.”
“The government’s offer for localized peace talks is to fighting insurgents on the ground and not to their alleged leaders living comfortable lives in Europe,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.
“We will await responses of those who are risking their lives and limbs on what appears to be a hopeless cause,” Roque added.
The Palace official on Thursday said the President would soon issue an executive order to set the guidelines for the localized peace talks.
Duterte had earlier ordered the postponement of the peace talks between the government and the communist rebels scheduled last June.
Sison had slammed Duterte’s decision, saying he is “not only disappointed but exasperated,” and said the “people have no choice but to single-mindedly wage a people’s war for national and social liberation.” /jpv
