Stray bullet kills kid during anti-drug ops in Cebu City

A four year-old child died after being accidentally shot during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City on Tuesday.

In a phone interview, Cebu City Police Station 5 officers confirmed the death of the child, although they stressed that an investigation was still underway to find out what really happened.

According to a report from AM radio station DZMM, the Cebu City Police Station said shot that killed the child did not come from any of the responding officers but from one of the suspects.

According to the same report, authorities received a report that certain individuals were having a drug session in the said area.

As police officers arrived at the scene, the suspects opened fired at them, resulting in an encounter.

Investigators recovered the illegal substances and drug paraphernalia, but were unable to subdue the suspects. /atm
