Duterte’s Kitchen, the donation-driven initiative to feed the street children in Cubao, is transferring to Manresa, Quezon City.
The initiative’s official Facebook page announced the development on a post yesterday, July 7.
The announcement came not long after one netizen, Anthony S. Comedia, uploaded yesterday photos of Duterte’s Kitchen in Cubao, showing that the spot has turned into a thrift shop. The photos went viral and had people wondering if the initiative was no more.
“Duterte’s kitchen noon… Tindahan ng ukay-ukay na ngayon,” wrote Comedia. (Duterte’s Kitchen then, second-hand shop now.)
“Duterte’s Kitchen ningas kugon? Hindi kinaya ang TRAIN Law?” the netizen asked in his caption of the photos. (Duterte’s Kitchen loses enthusiasm on something it started? Can’t it handle the [Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion] TRAIN law?)
Instantly becoming the talk of the town after it was started in October 2016, Duterte’s Kitchen claims to promote volunteerism.
Duterte’s Kitchen was originally a project of President Rodrigo Duterte when he was still mayor of Davao. His party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), adopted the initiative for street children in Metro Manila. JB
