Muslim freedom fighter’s group denies Kato’s death

COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters denied the reported death of its leader, Ameril Umra Kato.

Abu Misri, BIFF spokesman, laughed off the report, saying it was pure speculation.

“He is alive,” he said by phone.

Misri admitted, however, that Kato had collapsed while walking towards a BIFF camp last week.

But he attributed it to “asthma” and said the 65-year old Saudi-trained cleric was well.
