The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo has asked the Supreme Court sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) to require the spokesman of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos to identify the people who knew about the use of the plastic magnifying lens in the revision votes for the 2016 vice presidential race.
Last June 14, one of Marcos’ revisors, a certain Nestor Borromeo, was caught using a “plastic magnifying lens” inside the revision area at the Supreme Court compound where the ballots were being examined by the revisors of the PET and both parties.

“In response, protestant Marcos, through his spokesperson Atty. Vic Rodriguez issued a statement to the media that other people on the revision floor were aware that the plastic magnifier was being used and never complained,” read Robredo’s motion through Atty. Romulo Macalintal.
The motion pointed out that magnifying lens is prohibited and to allow Borromeo to bring it inside the revision area, much worst use it was alarming.
“Thus, to unearth the truth and serve as a guide in resolving the said incident, Atty. Rodriguez should be directed to inform the Honorable Tribunal who these ‘other people’ are who were aware of the use of the plastic magnifying lens inside the revision area,” read the motion adding that “Atty. Rodriguez, a lawyer and an officer of the court, has a responsibility to guide the Honorable Tribunal in determining the truth.”
“More importantly, this will dispel any wrong information being fed to the media and the public regarding this election protest,” the motion added.
The recount covers three pilot provinces – Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Negros Oriental – covering a total of 5,418 clustered precincts.
Robredo won the vice presidential race in the May 2016 polls with 14,418,817 votes or 263,473 more than Marcos’ 14,155,344 votes. with Kristine Macasiray/INQUIRER.net intern/ac
