Robredo lawyers accuse Marcos revisor of violating PET rules

/ 07:28 AM June 23, 2018

The legal team of Vice President Leni Robredo has called the attention of the Supreme Court, acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), for what it claimed were violations committed by the camp of former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the ongoing revision of votes for the 2016 vice presidential race.

Robredo’s lawyers said one of Marcos’ revisors, a certain Nestor Borromeo, was caught on June 14 using a “plastic magnifying lens” inside the revision area at the Supreme Court compound where the ballots were being examined by the revisors of the PET and both parties.

“To further compound matters, Mr. Borromeo was caught” using the magnifying glass “during the ongoing revision, recount and reappreciation of ballots,” read a portion of a motion filed by Robredo’s lawyers on June 20.

“Worse, when confronted, Borromeo said that he was instructed to stray more valid ballots for Robredo even after the (PET) head revisor has segregated the ballots,” they added. —Marlon Ramos
