Detained Senator Leila De Lima did not ask for any “special favors” when Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III visited her this Thursday.

Sotto himself said this when the media asked what they had discussed when he visited De Lima at the Camp Crame Custodial Center.

He said they discussed about measures pending before De Lima’s committee on social justice and other concerns that he earlier promised to look into.

“She (De Lima) was not asking for any special favors. She said she was being treated fairly and is content in receiving the same treatment as other detainees,” Sotto said.

De Lima has been charged and detained over her alleged involvement with illegal drugs.

Sotto said his visit was his personal initiative.

“I wanted to know how a fellow senator was doing,” said the Senate leader.

Besides, he said, he also visited other colleagues, who were also detained in the past like Senators Gringo Honasan and Antonio Trillanes IV, former Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.    /muf
