PURA, TARLAC – A carpenter fabricated a Tuesday night (June 26) mugging to hide an illicit affair from his wife, the police discovered on Wednesday (June 27).

Belizar claimed that he was robbed at gunpoint by two motorcycle-riding men at 8 p.m. along Barangay (village) Carbonel. The robbers allegedly took his motorcycle, his mobile telephone and all his clothes, forcing Belizar to walk four kilometers. But the couple reported the robbery on Wednesday morning.

But when the police noted discrepancies in his account and the timeline, Belizar admitted he was out on Tuesday night with another woman. The police also found out that his motorcycle was discovered at 8:30 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion 1, covered with branches.

“He broke down when we informed him the time elements of his account were all wrong, and that the area had security cameras we could check,” an investigator said./lb
