Bro. Eddie: Duterte’s ‘blasphemy’ could bring curses on himself and country

Jesus Is Lord church founder Brother Eddie Villanueva said President Rodrigo Duterte’s “stupid” remark against God is “blasphemy in the highest order” that could invite calamities from the heavens against the country.

In an interview with ANC on Wednesday, Villanueva said, “To insult God, to us this is a kind of blasphemy in the highest order. We’re afraid because the Bible is very clear. When you slander or curse God, you’re inviting curses not only for yourself but the entire nation.”

“I was so sad when I saw it, and of course at first, I felt holy anger, because I cannot be a traitor to God. My loyalty to anyone ends when my loyalty to my God begins,” Villanueva said.

President Duterte, unapologetic for his controversial remark, claimed that the God of his critics, the Catholics, was stupid, but not his God.

“Puro lang kayo daldal (You are all just talk)… Sabi ko (I said) you review the tapes. Di ba sinabi ko (I told you), ‘Your god, is not my god because your god is stupid?’” he said.

“Mine has a lot of common sense. Tapos ngayon (Now), why do you have to talk about religion?” he added.
