Ex-village chief held for hitting woman with gun in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY – Police arrested a former village chief for hitting a woman in the head with a gun in Alaminos, Laguna on Tuesday night.

San Pablo City police chief Supt. Danilo Mendoza said Khennel Follero, former leader of Barangay 3, hit Myla Quinto, 54, following an argument over a debt settlement.

Police said the incident happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay San Lucas 1 in San Pablo City also in Laguna.

Probers said Follero went to Quinto’s home supposedly to settle his debt but the two ended up arguing.

Mendoza said Follero hit Quinto in the head with his gun during their scuffle.

The gun, a .38 caliber, turned out to be unlicensed, he also said.

Neighbors came to the woman’s rescue and “mauled” the suspect until the police arrived.

Quinto, who suffered hematoma, according to a police report, was rushed to the hospital.

Mendoza said investigation is still ongoing. He also said it was not immediately clear how much the suspect owed the victim. /kga
