700-m section of Laguna Lake Highway opened
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) opened on Tuesday an additional 700-meter section of the Laguna Lake Highway in Taguig City.
The new section from Napindan to M.L. Quezon brings to 6.7 kilometers the total length of the highway now accessible to the public.
The DPWH initially opened a 4.5-km section of the road last year and a 1.5-km section in March.
Protection vs flooding
Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said the opening of additional sections of the two-lane highway was in time for the rainy season as it would help protect Taguig against possible flooding. The road has a 2-meter-wide planting strip and drainage.
The project also involves the construction and widening of the Napindan, Barkadahan and Tapayan bridges.

It can also help ease traffic on Edsa and C5 Road as motorists can use it as an alternate route.
