Magnitude 4.2 quake hits Surigao del Sur

A magnitude 4.2 rocked Surigao del Sur on Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

A Phivolcs report showed that the earthquake hit east of Cortest, Surigao del Sur at 2:49 p.m.

The quake resulted into an Intensity I tremor at the province of Surigao City.

Despite this, Phivolcs said that no aftershocks and damage could be expected from the quake.

The quake had a depth of 36 kilometers and was of tectonic origin. /je
