For Senator Panfilo Lacson, there is still one issue that the police have yet to answer on the death of 22-year-old Genesis “Tisoy” Argoncillo.
Why was Argoncillo detained along with detainees facing murder charges?
At press conference earlier, QCPD Director Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel identified the suspects allegedly responsible for Argoncillio’s death as Sputnik gang members Justin Mercado and Richard Bautista.

The two allegedly mauled the victim to death last June 19.
“The issue that the police authorities should address is why the victim, who was picked up for “loitering,”or at worst for violation of some city ordinance was mixed with detainees facing murder charges,” Lacson, a former Police Chief, said in a statement on Friday.
“If light offenders like Argoncillo wasn’t detained with his alleged killers, he could have been still alive,” he said.
Argoncillo was reportedy nabbed during the anti-tambay operation last June 15 but the police claimed otherwise, saying that the victim was arrested and detained for alarm and scandal.
Asked if the filing of charges could now be considered a case close, Lacson said: “It’s case closed once the case is referred to the prosecutor and after preliminary evaluation, accepts the same as sufficient for the conduct of a preliminary investigation.” /vvp
