3 successive quakes jolt Maguindanao town

Three succeeding earthquakes rocked Buldon town in Maguindanao on Friday morning.

of Magnitude 2.6, 3.5, and 2.1 hit different parts of the town of Buldon in Maguindanao on Friday morning.

In a bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Budol town experienced magnitudes 2.6, 3.5, and 2.1 tremors – two occured within almost two minutes apart while the third happened nearly an hour after.

Phivolcs said the three earthquakes were tectonic of origin and shallow, with depths of nine kilometers, seven kilometers, and one kilometer.

The epicenter of the first two earthquakes were located nine kilometers northeast of Buldon while the third was located three kilometers northwest, according to Phivolcs.

Neither aftershocks nor damages could be expected from the seismic activity, Phivolcs said. /kga
