Filipino Youth Day is observed on June 19 by virtue of Proclamation No. 75 signed on June 19, 1948 by then President Elpidio Quirino.
The proclamation highlights that national hero Jose Rizal, whose birthday falls on the same day, has always referred to the Filipino youth as the hope of the country, especially in his writings.
All private and public schools, religious institutions, civic organizations and local communities are asked to join in the observance of Filipino Youth Day. —Marielle Medina
