One of 3 kidnapped South Koreans freed in Lanao Norte–military

MANILA, Philippines — A Korean national who was kidnapped in Cagayan de Oro in October was freed by his abductors Thursday night, the police and military said Friday.

Choi Inn So was abandoned in the boundary of Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte, Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., spokeman of the Philippine National Police said.

So was found at about 9:30 p.m. at the boundary of Deguyanan, Madamba town, Lanao del Sur and Salvador town, Lanao del Norte, said Cruz.

The victim was kidnapped by the suspects last October 21 at around 5 p.m. at the Miami Inn Hotel along Varmenta Boulevard in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.

Cruz said So was left by his abductors during joint military and police pursuit operations against them.

The military said that So was one of three other Korean nationals who was abducted near a supposed mining area.
