P136K worth of shabu seized in Cotabato City

About 20 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P136,000 were seized by elements of the Cotabato City Police’s Drug Enforcement Unit, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional office, and barangay officials from an arrested member of a local drug ring on Thursday.

According to a report from PDEA’s Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) office, the arrested suspect was identified as Iskhak Omar, 28 years old and a resident of Pastor Kimpo Street, Cotabato City. Omar was nabbed through the power of a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 16 of Kabacan, North Cotabato.

Seized from Omar were four sachets containing the suspected shabu, a caliber .38 revolver with 16 bullets inside a bag, a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine loaded with seven bullets , and six bullets for a 5.56 caliber gun.

Also seized from Omar were an iPhone and a Nokia 3310 phone, assorted jewelry, two bank passbooks and two bank deposit slips.

Police said charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) will be filed against Omar, who is currently detained at the PDEA-ARMM Custodial Facility.  /muf
