A policeman who just attended the hearing of his case at the National Police Commission (Napolcom) was shot dead at the agency’s premises in Makati City on Thursday, police said.

National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said Police Officer 2 Teejay Valdez of the Marikina City Police station was gunned down by a still-unidentified suspect at the Napolcom’s parking lot at around 3 p.m.

Valdez just came from a hearing of his administrative case at the commission and was about to enter his vehicle when a man wearing a black jacket and a hat shot him in the head, killing him on the spot.

Valdez was charged with three counts of grave misconduct in a shooting incident during his stint in the Eastwood Police Station two years ago.

Police are still investigating the incident and see whether his murder was in connection with his case, Eleazar said. /je
