One of the activists who heckled President Rodrigo Duterte while delivering his Independence Day speech in Cavite will be facing a criminal case for disturbing public order, police said Tuesday.

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) member Francis Couichie was arrested while staging a protest action during Duterte’s speech at Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite.

According to a spot report from the Kawit Police, members of the Cavite Police Mobile Force Company arrested Couichie as he chanted “huwad na kalayaan!” and held a placard bearing the words “Kapayapaan para sa lahat at lahat para sa kapayapaan.”

Couichie is facing a case for public disturbance or violation of the Article 153 of the Revised Penal Code.

He is currently detained at the Kawit Municipal Police Station. /jpv
