MANILA, Philippines — Senators were no longer surprised upon discovering the signature mismatch on Alice Guo’s counter-affidavit, noting that the dismissed Bamban mayor is a “professional scam artist.”

One of these two senators who aired their sentiments on the issue was Sen. Risa Hontiveros, head of the chamber’s panel on women investigating Guo’s Philippine offshore gaming operator ties.

According to Hontiveros, Guo’s entire identity is built on lies.

“She and her lawyer said she signed a counter-affidavit before fleeing. But according to the NBI, someone else signed. Another lie on top of lies,” she pointed out in a statement on Wednesday.

Guo, during the panel’s Wednesday hearing said she signed the last page of the affidavit in July before she fled the country.

“Not only the client but her lawyer should be held accountable. I hope this will be investigated not only by the DOJ but by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines,” she added.

Still, she noted that what needs to be resolved and finally unveiled is the person behind Guo’s escape from Philippine jurisdiction.

In a separate statement, Sen. Joel Villanueva somehow aired similar remarks as Hontiveros.

“What do we expect from these criminals who have been lying to us from the very start?” he said.

Villanueva emphasized that it’s high time to make Guo accountable for her crimes. He said this, alone, adds another layer to the growing crimes of the dismissed Bamban mayor.
