Rain expected across PH on Sunday as habagat affects western regions

MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country are expected to experience rain on Sunday due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its morning forecast, Pagasa said the habagat continues to affect the western parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“Ang habagat ay umiiral pa din dito sa kanlurang bahagi ng Southern Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao kung saan ngayong araw ay mag dudulot ito ng mataas na tsansa ng pagulan pagkidlat at pagkulog, so pagiingat po sa ating mga kababayan dyan sa posibilidad ng pagbaha,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.
(The southwest monsoon continues to affect western parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao where today it will bring a high chance of rain, lightning, and thunder, so we ask residents to take caution due to possible flooding.)

Article continues after this advertisementCastañeda also reported that Pagasa spotted cloud clusters over the western part of Southern Luzon, adding that they are monitoring it in case it develops into a low-pressure area.
Meanwhile, she said that Pagasa is likewise monitoring a typhoon outside the Philippine area of Responsibility (PAR), which is not expected to enter PAR or affect the country.
The typhoon, which has an international name Shanshan, was last spotted some 1,980 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.
On the other hand, no gale warning has been raised in any of the country’s seaboard.
