LUCENA CITY — A man wanted for illegal possession of firearms and violation of the government’s drug laws was killed in a shootout Sunday with policemen in San Juan, Batangas.

Two policemen were wounded during the gun battle, Police Region 4A said in a report on Monday.

Citing information from San Juan police, the report said that operatives, with a warrant of arrest, swooped down on the safe house of “Alberto” in Barangay Bulsa around 6 a.m.

The police said Alberto fired at the cops using a handgun during the serving of the warrant.

The responding police returned shots and hit the suspect, who suffered gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

The report stated that two unidentified cops suffered gunshot wounds during the encounter. They were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. INQ
