MANILA, Philippines —  Separate show cause orders (SCOs) have been issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to the owners of an e-jeepney and a passenger bus in a viral road rage video taken along España Boulevard in Manila.

The SCOs, issued by LTO-National Capital Region (NCR) Director Roque Verzosa III on July 22, 2024, asked the owners of the e-jeepney with plate number NHF 6732 and a passenger bus bearing a plate number UVP 490 to explain in writing why they should not be held liable for at least four traffic violations during the incident.

LTO chief assistant secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II expressed dismay at the incident, particularly as the involved vehicles are used for public transportation.

“I already ordered the LTO-NCR to identify the drivers of the two passenger vehicles. What they did is unacceptable and that their bad temper that put the lives of fellow motorists and commuters at risk should not go unpunished,” said Mendoza.

In the viral video, the driver of the passenger bus swerved towards the lane of the e-jeepney in an attempt to block the path.

The passenger bus then returned to its lane, which may have triggered the e-jeepney to retaliate by doing the same by swerving towards the lane of the passenger bus.

The bus then blocked the path of the bike lane.
