Guo’s camp files new motion to admit counter-affidavit in trafficking case

MANILA, Philippines — The camp of ex-Bamban Mayor Alice Guo yet again filed a motion asking the Department of Justice (DOJ) to accept her counter-affidavit in the qualified human trafficking complaint against her.

The motion was filed on Friday, according to DOJ Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Mico Clavano IV.

“Nag-file po sila ng isa pang motion dito sa ating panel of prosecutors para i-renew ‘yung request nila na i-admit ‘yung counter-affidavit ni Alice Guo,” he said in a press briefing held the same day.

Last August 16, Guo’s camp filed a motion asking the DOJ to admit her counter-affidavit on the qualified human trafficking complaint against her and several others.

It was the same motion notarized by Atty. Elmer Galicia last August 14.

He was the lawyer who claimed that Guo appeared before him on the date of the notarization despite speculations that she had been out of the country since July.

In the same briefing, Clavano said Galicia would face criminal and administrative cases.

“Hindi naman po pwede ‘yan na mag-notarize ka ng isang dokumento na hindi mo naman kita ‘yung ang swe-swear sa harap mo. So we believe that there are definitely actionable things here that need to be, I guess, taken advantage of,” he said.

“We leave it up to the prosecutors to really decide whether or not it is justified to accept that motion,” he added.
