TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte spent Monday in Bohol, which marked its founding anniversary as a province on the same day as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (Sona).

Duterte told the Inquirer that she would not have time to watch the Sona, even online, since she was busy “with a lot of activities in Bohol, starting this morning until this afternoon and later in the evening.”

She was interviewed at the wake of acting Bohol Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite, who died on July 17 at the age of 52.

A source told the Inquirer that Duterte, who resigned as education secretary last week, would be staying on Panglao Island, where Bohol’s premier resorts were located.

She earlier said she would skip the Sona as she also appointed herself the “designated survivor.” —Leo Udtohan
