Senate leaders pay tribute to Saguisag

MANILA, Philippines — A Senate resolution has been filed expressing “profound sympathy and sincere condolences” over the death of human rights lawyer and former Sen. Rene Saguisag.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda and Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III filed Senate Resolution No. 1009 following the death of Saguisag on April 24.

They called his passing “a great loss not only to his bereaved family but to the entire nation.”

They described him as a “dedicated public servant, a staunch defender of human rights and a true patriot.”
