Pagasa: Cavite heat index may reach 47 degrees Celsius Thursday (April 25)

MANILA, Philippines — Sangley Point in Cavite is expected to hit the highest heat index on Thursday at 47°C, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa said Pangasinan follows, with a temperature that could get as hot as 46°C.

The state weather service said a heat index of 42 to 51°C falls under the “danger” category and would likely cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, while heat stroke is probable with continued heat or sun exposure.

Aside from the two places, Pagasa said 36 other areas nationwide may also have a dangerous heat index.

The forecast revealed five areas are expected to experience extreme heat at 45°C:

Amid the extreme heat, Pagasa advised the public to limit outdoor time.

It also urged the public to drink plenty of water, avoid tea, coffee, soda, and liquor, use umbrellas, wear hats and sleeved clothing outdoors, and schedule heavy-duty activities during the cooler periods of the day.
