MANILA, Philippines — Hot and humid weather will affect most parts of the country due to easterlies, while parts of Southern Mindanao may experience cloudy skies and chances of scattered rains brought by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said on Thursday.

Based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) morning forecast, the two weather systems will continue to affect the country for the rest of Thursday and the following days.

“Ang ITCZ patuloy na makaapekto dito sa katimugang bahagi ng Mindanao, habang patuloy ang pag-ihip ng easterlies, particularly sa silangan. Ito ang magdadala ng mainit na panahon sa ating bansa sa mga susunod na araw,” weather specialist Benison Estareja reported.

(The ITCZ continues to affect the southern parts of Mindanao, while easterlies mainly affect the eastern parts, bringing hot weather in our country for the following days.)

He added that rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail in areas near Moro Gulf, including the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, and Sarangani.

On the other hand, hot weather with chances of occasional rains and thunderstorms is expected over the rest of Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon starting this afternoon and continuing until Friday morning.

In line with this, he said that no gale warning had been raised on the country’s seaboards.

Estareja also reported that Pagasa has not monitored any weather disturbance or low-pressure area that will likely enter the Philippine area of responsibility or form within the country’s boundary for the rest of April.
