MANILA, Philippines — A Messenger link which claims to provide a pension subsidy from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is fake, according to the lead government agency responsible for providing social services to the public.

In an image posted by the DSWD on its Facebook page, the link will lead the user to click on a “claim gift” button which will allegedly provide the subsidy.

The DSWD said that this was fraudulent.

“The link in Messenger which says that the DSWD will give a pension subsidy after answering a survey questionnaire is fake,” the DSWD said.

The agency also told the public to not fall for posts which are not from its official social media sites.

“Do not fall for posts or links if these are not from the official Facebook page of the DSWD,” it added.
