MANILA, Philippines – Amid increasing cases of swine flu infections in the country, personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Internal Affairs Service inspected the comfort rooms of different offices inside Camp Crame on Monday.
Senior Superintendent Eduardo Octaviano, chief of the IAS inspection and audit unit, said the inspection was part of the PNP’s measures to prevent the spread of the A(H1N1) virus, confirmed cases of which have reached 193 to date.
Octaviano said that among the basic requirements of a comfort room include functioning faucets, clean toilets, and soap.
He stressed that a clean bathroom could help prevent the spread of swine flu.
“We have been receiving reports that a number of police stations have malfunctioning toilets,” Octaviano said, adding that after the inspection, they would submit recommendations to the PNP administration to improve the bathrooms of different police offices.
Members of the police Task Group on Pandemic Influenza consisting of the Special Action Force, the Aviation Security Group, and the Maritime Group have recently completed their training on Pandemic Rapid Response on quarantine procedures for suspected swine flu cases.
