MANILA, Philippines – A “sideshow” and “distraction” were how Senate Minority Floor Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr. described the Senate investigation into the filming and distribution of the controversial sex videos of Doctor Hayden Kho with different women.

“It’s a useless sideshow that does not deserve full attention of all senators,” Pimentel said at a weekly forum in the Senate on Thursday.

If the investigation produces something substantial, however, then it would become a “good sideshow,” he said.

Pimentel also called the investigation by the Senate committee on women, youth, and family relations a “distraction” since there were already existing laws to address the matter.

He cited, for instance, the Revised Penal Code against lewd exhibitions, which even if done privately, would still be considered a crime.

Kho and his partner in a sex video, young actress Katrina Halili, were expected at the hearing later in the day.
