The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) warned thousands of villagers living along river channels surrounding the slopes of Mt. Mayon volcano of severe lahar flows and landslides due to heavy rains to be spawned by supertyphoon “Yolanda” (international name: Haiyan) that might hit Bicol on Friday.

Storm surge spawned by typhoon ‘Pablo’ hits Catanduanes

Task Force Pablo activated in Bicol Region

The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) in Bicol on Sunday activated Task Force Pablo, a disaster response group that would undertake search and rescue operation in areas in the region expected to be affected by flooding, landslides and storm surges during the expected landfall of typhoon Bopha, to be locally called “Pablo” in the Philippines.
