Senatorial candidates of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) could stand to benefit from the local rivalry between the Liberal Party (LP) and the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in the May 13 elections.
The Church-based Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has called on voters in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) to be vigilant against manipulation of results of the May 13 elections.
One candidate now goes by the name “Edgardo Angara,” another by “Grace Poe,” and still another, “JV Estrada.” In an election where voters clearly put premium on political pedigree, candidates from the two main senatorial tickets are tweaking their names for better recall and, eventually, to improve their chances in the May 13 elections.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will hold on Saturday “full-blown” mock elections in 10 areas across the country as a preview of the May 13 automated balloting.
