The Freedom of Information Bill remained hanging in its sponsorship stage until the last session day before the House of Representatives went on recess for the campaign period for the May elections.

Today, Aug. 10, is the 113th birth anniversary of nationalist statesman Lorenzo Tañada, known as the “Grand Old Man of Philippine Politics.” A former Philippine senator, he was elected in 1948 and re-elected three times. Known as a civil rights advocate, Tañada died on May 29, 1992, at the age of 94.
