MANILA, Philippines--Left adrift by the decision of its standard-bearer, former Public Works Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., to withdraw from the presidential race, the Lapiang Manggagawa (LM) party will convene Sunday its national directorate to seek a replacement candidate to support.
The meeting was called by party president Jose Malvar Villegas at the Manila Hotel to consider several aspirants nominated by LM members to be their official candidate for president.
The party, which claims a nationwide membership of three million, has said it would field candidates in the national and local levels in next year?s elections.
Nominated by LM members as a standard-bearer they can support are Sen. Richard Gordon, former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Bro. Eddie Villanueva, Sen. Jamby Madrigal and entrepreneur Jose Lao.
